Going Mobile

One of the main things we discovered in our recent research was the low number of brokers that were mobile friendly.  Now while this doesn’t mean having a different fully functioning and transactional version of your site for people who visit your site via a mobile device, there are a number of ways brokers can easily take advantage of the mobile space.

We have already discussed some of the ways here: https://www.insurance-marketing.co.uk/articles/how-insurance-brokers-can-take-advantage-of-mobile/

This time around we want to share a few ideas around brokers that may already have a site built in WordPress or if you are currently looking at having your site rebuilt.  This will give you a few more reasons why WordPress could be the way for you.

Mobile Redirects

How does your site know what the customer is using to visit your site?

As we discussed back in May (https://www.insurance-marketing.co.uk/marketing/wordpress-plugins-to-boost-your-website-effectiveness/), there is a great wordpress plugin that redirects a user depending on what device he / she is using. So if they are using a mobile device, you can send them to a friendly version of the site.  This in itself will be a huge improvement on the customer journey.

You can see the plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-mobile-url-redirect/

Mobile site

Another plugin that will be useful is a responsive or mobile plugin that could create your whole site in a mobile format based on what device the user is on. While a lot more complex that the plugin above, the beauty is you don’t need two versions of the site.

WP Touch is the most popular plugin for this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wptouch/

Another way you can take full advance of mobile is to create a Mobile App for your business.

Mobile Applications (Apps)

Again, if you use WordPress as a content management system, there are a number of plugins that can turn your site or part of your site into an App. You can then upload and share via the Google Play, Android Market and Apple iTunes store (No guarantees of acceptance though).  This would mean your App could be installed on other people’s devices and allow them to contact or interact with you without the need for your site.

Here are a couple of WordPress Plugins  to help you with this:

As you can see, there are a number of ways as a broker you can take advantage of the huge growth in mobile. While it is still a new opportunity, having first-mover advantage in your area could be a great way to drive more traffic and sales to your business.
