Using software to help manage social media

If you have set up a number of social media channels, now you will start to find it difficult to be consistent and engaging across more than one platform without a little help.  We have found:

  • that some companies tend to either stick with one platform only – missing out on access to potential customers on some of the others – as they find it manageable;
  • or they try to set up multiple platforms but don’t always update them – thinking that by simply having pages will mean they will grow themselves. Sadly, they won’t!

Whichever category you fit into, don’t despair – there are a number of pieces of software that can do some of the heavy lifting for you.  Tools such as Hootsuite or Sendible allow you to manage multiple platforms and accounts from one online screen.

This means you can use the software to create a message and then share it across all your social media activity from one place. This keeps you consistent and saves you time.

You can also schedule updates, so if you find you have a spare 30 minutes, you can write a several messages and drop them on a scheduled delivery so your activity remains constant, even if you are on holiday.

It must be pointed out however, that software is there to support your efforts – you still need to put in sometime to feed it with content and updates.  You still need to reach out and connect with people, but at least you can maximise that effort while software helps get your messages out.

We have used both Hootsuite and Sendible and find Sendible has a lot more functionality incorporating SMS and email messaging options, plus it is a UK business.

It supports Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and many more…

You can also use some of their reporting tools to find out how well your social media activity is going across all platforms.

You can even trial it for free: Get a free 30 day trial with Sendible
