5 things to do with your customer email database

Even in this day and age of smart phones and social media, email shouldn’t be forgotten, as it still plays a very important part in a company’s dealings with its customers. Or at least it should be.

Here are 5 ideas to get you thinking about how to make the most of your customer email database.

Use it

The first idea is to actually use it – there is no point having customer emails lists if you are not using them. Time and time again we hear stories of clients with email lists that are not being used at all.

Build it

By making a firm decision to build on your email database, put things in place to capture email addresses. Speak to customers and ask for their email addresses. Get them to sign up to your email list on your website, or entice them to sign up with free, useful reports.

Monthly Newsletter

Make sure you are sending out a monthly newsletter which is mobile friendly and provides useful information or links to your website / blog articles.  Be consistent and try to send out at the same time each month.

Advertising to customers on Facebook at renewal time

Upload your customer database to the Facebook advertising platform and build a custom audience, – which means anyone on your list that uses the same email address on Facebook can be served ads. This can be great at renewal time, but also for cross selling products.

Using Gmail sponsored promotions at renewal time

The same as Facebook, you can upload customer data to Google Adwords and use those as opportunities to serve ads to or deliver promotional emails too.
