Getting Media Coverage

Most brokers will think that the media is out of reach as maybe they feel too small or that they don’t have anything to offer a news story.  Or that they feel PR is the only way to attract attention so that would mean either learning how to write a press release and distributing it, or employing some one to do it for you.

The perception is PR agencies are expensive (It’s not  – but that’s another story).  PR is not the only way to attract attention from journalists, there are a number of online services that Journalists and story editors use to try and reach out to experts and those in the know for comment or opinion.  This could be you! But only if you register with them.

Here are a number of services you could approach. Signup with their mailing lists or register with them.  They send out requests all the time and while they will not all be for you, there is a good chance you can offer up some feedback, this maybe lead to a story or link back to your site.  Which is all good.

To really take advantage of these services, make sure you have a press kit ready to go.  Some decent photos or you and/or your business.  A brief word document with your bio and profile with links to your company website etc…

In this way you can really start leveraging the media to boost your business profile.   And online, this will all have a positive effect on driving traffic to your website.
